Three Leather Pants You Need To Invest In Right Now

Our introduction to styling leather pants was watching Sandy in Grease, strutting towards Danny in her high-waist, thigh-hugging black-on-black bombshell ensemble. We instantly fell in love but like most bold trends, we were initially intimidated to try it. We dove headfirst into the form-fitting leather leggings trend, but pants are a different beast.

Over the past couple of seasons, it seems every it-girl seems to be strutting down the streets of Paris, Milan, and New York in leather (or faux-leather) pants. From the classic black pant to snakeskin patterned and bold pastels, there are endless amounts of styles, colours, and cuts to play with. We have compiled our favourites for you here.

The Slim Cut

If you’re looking for an easy instant upgrade from your typical skinny-jean look, go for a pair of slim-cut leather (or faux leather) trousers. Think of this easy style as your “gateway pants” into the world of bold bottoms, without switching up too much. For an easy comfort-hack, replace the pants with leather leggings for equal parts style and comfort.

And this style is not just for fall or winter: to soften up the look and transition into spring, simply add a flowy oversized blouse and a nude pump. These caramel coloured pants plus soft white blouse equals major spring inspiration (and we’re always a sucker for a Gucci belt).

The Straight-Leg Cut

If you’re not feeling the skin-tight look but still want to look chic, a straight leg cut if right for you. Not only has the straight leg made a major comeback in jeans, but it has also become a preferred choice for leather pants. The nice thing about this simple cut is you can still play with other textures without the outfit becoming too loud. We love how Chrissy Ford paired a cute-cropped sherpa coat and a statement handbag with her trousers. You can go bold with a variety of textures and patterns or if you want to dress down your leathers pants and add some colour, see how the endlessly cool Lucy Williams styled this laid-back look.

The Wide Leg

We are obsessed with this trend; not only is the wide leg super comfortable, but you can easily transition this look from day to night by adding more daring touches, like a heeled boot or a statement bag.

Soften the look by getting the pants in a more subtle colour like dark brown or beige, add a delicate heel and you have an ever-so-chic springtime look.

Bonus: Adding Color

Opt for a bolder coloured bottom for a bolder spring look, balance out the look with a neutral-toned top with clean lines, we love Amina Musaddi’s red-hot combo with a simple white knit. Or you can lighten this fab look from Brittany Xavier by switching out the black tee to a white or cream one.
